Spotlight: The “TANZEN” Music Video – DIY, Greenscreen, Escalation

TANZEN – Rein.Hart Goes Wild in His DIY Greenscreen Living Room

For the music video of “TANZEN,” Rein.Hart transformed his living room into a compact film set. A large fabric greenscreen was stretched into a makeshift cyclorama, lit by three softbox lights. A rim light from behind added clean contours. The camera sat on a tripod in two positions, a wide shot and a close-up, while costumes, takes, and full-on performance unfolded. Music played from a laptop through a soundbar. A one-man production, fully self-contained. DIY all by himself.

The decision to use a greenscreen was both practical and aesthetic. The goal was color, flexibility, and character-driven visual worlds, but without access to physical backdrops. Digital spaces became the obvious choice. Each character would eventually appear in vibrant, playful backgrounds that amplify the humor and irony of the Rein.Hart persona.

The concept of the video revolves around deliberate contradiction. The title promises dancing, yet the characters initially resist movement, out of frustration, pressure, or simply as a comment on how heavy the world can feel today. Only later do they break out into minimalist, restricted moves before exploding into full, wild dancing. It’s about liberation and reclaiming an energy that daily life often suppresses. It’s also about rediscovering unobserved moments, especially in an era where smartphones dominate club culture. Even the pink tank appears with irony: an anti-war symbol, reminiscent of a child placing a flower in a soldier’s rifle. Music unites. Dance unites. Rein.Hart puts that into motion.

The shoot delivered its share of quirky moments. Phone calls interrupting. Constantly running into the frame to adjust lighting and composition. Early test footage that made the costumes look so absurd the artist burst into laughter. Preparation was a mix of instinctive character work and a self-invented mini choreo. A signature dance anyone can learn. Ideally, fans will recreate it, whether online or live.

Post-production took place in Adobe Premiere Pro. The biggest challenge was the lighting setup, especially maintaining sharpness in wide shots. Much had to be fixed or hidden creatively. Weeks of illness among people around the artist slowed the production further. In the end it became a sprint, surprisingly smooth and successful.

The most enjoyable part? Without doubt the costumes – and later combining their scenes in the edit. Absurd, playful, unmistakably Rein.Hart. Humor, excess, irony, trash, creativity, raw energy. The video channels everything that defines the project.

“TANZEN” carries a clear message. Feeling frustrated is human, but at some point the inner fire has to spark again. You get to show the world who you are. You get to break free. You get to be wild, quirky, strange, liberated, and absolutely unique. And in the end, everyone moves to the same beat.
